In The Long Run

All the photographs for this project were made, well you guessed it, while out running. The project was conceived at the beginning of training for a race called the Quest for the Crest 50K; A scenic Ultramarathon held annually in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

The images were made with a Reto Ultra Wide 35mm camera loaded with Ilford HP5 I carried with me during training. The majority of the photos were taken around Des Moines, IA where I reside. The other half in North Carolina.

I started training on January 1st through May 22nd, 2022. The weather during that time fluctuated between -12 degrees in February into the upper 90s in the weeks leading up. I ran approximately 400 miles total during training and lost two toenails in the process. The race itself took me 14 hours and 37 minutes to complete. Editing this video took me like three dang days.

To conclude, I wish to thank @meredithmkane for her overwhelming support and patience with me throughout this time. Also, to Seth Jacobs for inviting me to join in such a challenging and idiotic endeavor.
